No wireless connection

Got an old LG-UK495 that I am using as a wireless pad and extra screen for with my desktop. it runs very slow and often apps will crash

noticed recently that It can detect my wi-fi router but gets stuck "Obtaining IP address" even with correct passwords

obviously needs a software update, but not sure where to find legit sites for files, or how If it would update from a file even if i moved it over with a USB connection
